The Fast-Paced World of Wedding Trends

The Fast-Paced World of Wedding Trends

A Florist's Perspective

Wedding trends used to unfold over a decade or more, giving couples—and vendors like us—time to plan, adapt, and create with purpose. Now, trends seem to barely last a season before something new and "must-have" takes over. As florists, this rapid turnover presents unique challenges, and sometimes, it's hard to keep up.

One of the biggest challenges we face is deciphering what our clients truly want. Pinterest boards are a fantastic tool for inspiration, but they often present a mishmash of styles—boho meets modern minimalism with a splash of rustic romance. It's not always clear which direction the couple is actually drawn to versus what they've been influenced to like through social media. It often feels like we're piecing together a puzzle where the final image keeps changing.

We completely understand that couples want their weddings to feel unique, but there's only so much we can reinvent with the materials available to us. Sure, we have countless ideas tucked away, but many of those concepts come with significant costs that don't always align with every couple's budget.

Our frustration isn't with the trends themselves; we love a lamp over candles—they're an exciting part of the industry and inspire creativity. The challenge lies in how quickly they change and the pressure to predict what couples will want a year or more in advance. What seems fresh and exciting now may feel overdone or outdated by the time the big day arrives.

Our advice to couples is this: Focus less on following trends and more on what genuinely speaks to you. Do you really need a swan ice sculpture? Your wedding should reflect your personality, not just what's popular on social media. Trust your vendors—they have the expertise to take your vision and create something timeless, meaningful, and uniquely yours.

At the end of the day, love never goes out of style—and that's the most important trend of all.
